Day 7: Split
Highlights: Diocletian's palace, Peristil sv Domnius church, Klis fortress

With its 250 000 inhabitants, Split is the second largest city in Croatia. Last decade it turned from a transit spot between inland and islands to a serious tourist destination. Split is most famous for Diocletian’s palace, ancient Roman stronghold from 4th century and the promenade called Riva. There is also the Peristil square in the center of the palace which looks pretty amazing, with the famous church of saint Duje - one of the oldest catholic churches in the world. After the walk with local guide in your free time you will have to chance to visit again all these places and maybe take a lunch break. After visiting the historical core we go to the Klis fortress known for battles against Ottoman empire and not so long time ago filming some scenes of the famous TV show Game of thrones. In the case of a rainy day as an alternative to Klis, we offer visiting stadium of FC Hajduk Split. Split is also known as the most sporty city of the region since many top class croatian athletes were born After the Klis fort we head to our hotel in Split, and tomorrow early morning, aiming to our final destination – Dubrovnik.
